Description
Bennington Pottery jug, produced by the United States Pottery Company in Bennington, Vermont, in the shape of man wearing a cloak and wide-brimmed hat, 1849. Decorated with flint enamel glaze, a technique that was perfected by Christopher Fenton in 1849.

Stamped "Fenton / ENAMEL / PATENTED / 1849" on the base under the glaze.

10 1/2" (26.7 cm) H

Condition: There is one small chip to the base of the jug (see the fourth image). Otherwise, the piece is in perfect condition.
