Rookwood Vase by Kataro Shirayamadani with Branches, Leaves, and Fruit, 1890
This large Rookwood vase by Kataro Shirayamadani (active at Rookwood Pottery 1887-1948) is done in a standard glaze.
The vase features branches of fruit that wrap around a portion of the vase. The glaze is a mixture of greens, browns, and rust color.
Signed by the artist on the base with his incised mark and with the Rookwood mark with four flames above.
Below the mark is stamped "491B S".
Excellent condition; no damage or repair
10 3/4" (27.30 cm) high, 6 3/8" (16.19 cm) at top lip, 4 1/2" (11.43cm) at base, and 10" (25.40 cm) at widest point
